May 19, 2005Has anyone installed jet valve eliminators on the Mitsu 2.0? I have yet to figure thier purpose in this engine, especially when I have no computer or smog equipment hooked up. I am running a weber 38, header, balance shaft elimination kit. Can't get the jerking and hesitation to go away at 2000 to 3000 rpm.

May 19, 2005on the intake stroke, air rushing out of jet valve opening scavenges gases from around the spark plug and produces a strong swirl in combustion chamber promoting high combustion and minimizing exaust emissions. the problem with the jet valves i that mitsu used steel for the valves and put them in an aluminum head. the two metals expand and contract at two different speeds thus creating a crack in the head over time. i havent heard any results on the bypass kit other than if you need to smog your truck, it will probably not pass. theres a company online that sells the heads without jet valves for the 2.0, 2.6, and the 2.6 turbo (starion/conquest) but they are pretty pricy for the same effect. i have also heard from various local shops, that there was also a cast iron head but its insanely expensive (like $1200) if you decide to use the kit let me know how it works out for u and i might give it a try on my 2.6. hope this helps at all
