May 16, 2005Hey. I am getting ready to try and start the install of the bags in the truck. What I am wondering is do I need to buy new control arms, or will I be good with some torsion bar bag brackets. I don't want a ton of negative camber, so any help let me know. THanks
May 16, 2005you can lay a mazda with all factory parts as long as your tire is not taller than a 205-40-17. in the case it is taller, id suggest drop spindles over control arms on a bagged vehicle. it is much eaiser to get the bag placed w/o rubbing. unfortunately, chassis tech is the only company that makes mazda drop spindles.
May 17, 2005Ya i got the runaround in the early 90's about spindles for the mazda's. no one wanted to produce them because they were a 2 peice design, and the one shop I was dealing with wouldn't recommend the dropped arms either because they said the ones available at the time were not safe. Good Luck.
May 18, 2005Okay. Well it sounds like drop spindles might be the way to go. But are they going to have a negative camber still. and am I going to have to relocate the shocks and stuff. Sorry first install I am doing by myself. Thanks fella's.
May 18, 2005What about these -
MAZDA DIRECT BOLT-ON AIR ARMS
Call 800-682-8789 *(011) 480-668-5448 International, for help. AIRARMS replace OE C-ARM with a flat surface to receive your airbag & corrects front end geometry for lowered height. Purchase Upper adjustable CONTROL ARMS to allow up to 6 degree align
These seem like they would not work -
SPINDLE LOWERED (PER PAIR) - MAZDA
Call 800-682-8789 for help. Most applications cast at BELL FOUNDRY Los Angeles. USE DROP SPINDLES ON STANDARD O.E. OFFSET WHEELS ONLY. Using an offset wheel other than factory offset causes stress on spindle shaft & bearings and they can break!!
May 18, 2005when laying out anything there will be negative camber. theres no way around it. unless you have it adjusted all the way out when you are laid out, then youll have positve camber when you lift up. drop spindles will eliminate a lot of negative camber when laid out, but will also drop your ride height. therefore limiting lift.
May 18, 2005Oh Okay cool. Can I use drop spindles with me new 17x8 wheels? Will there be any clearance issues?
May 20, 2005they should be fine. i know you cant run 15s with em. and some 16s will still rub the tierod ends. but 17s should be fine. as long as they can tuck you are golden
May 20, 2005Holly Crap Brian.. you must know someone w/ a mazda. And i was going to say all that stuff you said.. and all.. but you got on here sooner.. and stuff
May 22, 2005Well I guess I will try the drop spindles and go with that. So what size tires do you guys think I should run. I was thinking like 235/40/17 or around there. Also where can I get the shock relocators for the front shocks after I put the drop spindles in? Thanks and mullet if you wanna answer this one I will understand.
May 22, 2005haha! im first on the trigger again!!
id run either 225/40 or 235/40. id suggest either suicidedoors.com or gravity-werx.com for front shock relocators. i think they are the same. just take time when setting them up so when you turn your wheel lock to lock that the inside of your rim wont rub the shock at any PSI.
