March 2, 2004hey i was wondering if anyone elses ranger lets you take the key out while its running. i can pull my key out and shut the truck off without my key in and keep it off so i dont need it to start my truck unless i move it back to the lock position i was just wondering if it always does this or if mines "special"
March 2, 2004i've seen that in other vehicles , i think it's just worn out , or loose , maybe it was a recall that was never done?
March 11, 2004most all fords that have been wrecked or even old will do it
March 12, 2004I've had a Plymouth and a couple of Chevy's do that as well, key cylinder is just worn out, no big deal.
March 13, 2004mine does that
March 29, 2004Mine don't do that, and it's almost 20 years old
We bought a Jeep, J10 that could do that. Start it and everything, without a key. lol
April 10, 2005i dunno if i would call that "special" if i was u id probly just call it "broke" haha
April 11, 2005Mine does that too....It's pretty convienent when I have to get my mail....( I live in an apartment complex )
April 12, 2005I don't know if I'd like my truck able to be started without the key...I'd get the cylinder replaced considering Ranger's are entirely too easy to break into anyways....
April 12, 2005You can't start it without the key.......But after you do start it you can take the key out.....
