August 9, 2006Thks guys! I Know truckaction I knew out of all people you would grill me on the opposing force thing but i appreciate it!I am Learning as i go so all this is not a How To!, but only my steps to see, what i can accomplish>your truck is a fine example of how to do it right!!
I just wanted to do this to see if it functions ,ok,i mean guys ask for it with no if and or buts cause moneys tight or space? Same diff though.
I wanted to learn on my truck first(i will prob forward all of it when i get my new wheels)I didnt want to do something on another mans(or girls) truck that i cant honestly say i idid and worked on my truck first .
As for the set up Truckaction's right im doing a 50/50 4 link setup with bags over the axle.
What iwould like to know is if there is a way to get the front to actually lay from and not my X-member Havnt gave it much thought just wanted some ideas? Oh yea had to raise the exhaust a couple inches to tuck up in the frame. The funny thing is i see guys drag with a stock tank and exhaust (dont know WHAT they drag) but i just couldnt see it possible? i mean when im getting the rear frame on the ground the first thing that would hit would be the leafspring perches then the exhaust then the tank? Just wanted to chat PEACE
August 9, 2006It's TruckAction, not truckmod;wasn't meant as to grill you. Just sound advice.I'm a hot rodder, so building my mini as a rodder would.I try to pass on what I know & what I've learned.
And yes there is a right way & a wrong way to every build,no mather what anyone says or tells you.
Build it once & build it safe!
August 10, 2006Well I'm no expert either but I did my link like you and mine works like a champ. But then again I don't plan on racing it so I don't know the long term of it but hey it works well. But I may change it later on in the build.
August 10, 2006If you look at the new MiniTruckin' the cover truck is sporting a 50/50 lonk too.
August 10, 2006Damn im sorry bro ,didnt mean to f/u your name(no sarcasim intended) but true your truck is the ****! Would be proud my self.
Saw the 50/50 in the mag, seen alot actually just means i have to put more thought into it.But in theory its good to a certain point Im not even putting out alot of ponys.Got pics soon though! thanks for all the feedback

August 20, 2006Thanks SUDKRAP i have seen your progress and i comend you its all about getting in there and trying it out getting that B_ _ _ _H to hit the ground DO IT YOURSELF thats were our culture started or we all still be lowriders with spinning beds or mini daytona trucks .First make sure its safe then ,See what works-fix what dont- make it look SICK !!!! Its metal!
I hope to finish in a couple weeks.NO ARGON

Fight Gravity Not Each Other
August 21, 2006I know the cash feeling ,just got our youngest into college ,his first classes start today. This is after he being in private high school$$$$$.
All while I'm trying to finish my truck. The last bunch of parts for the front air ride will be $1200,hope to have all the parts by Feb.
September 12, 2006Here's a couple of phone pics to show whats going down .this is the uppers @ 41 DEGREES tried at 45 but the studs hit each other!
here is the driverside lower it only hangs 3/4 " below frame (not enogh to scrape it off for i will have a buddys dad make some titanium drag blocks
and here is what im waiting on now ...mocking up the notch...
man this part is tough. ive seen guides on how much to notch but they all have flaws(depending on wheel size ,which brackets are being used, over axle. under ...etc..) so i will put up my exact measurements by sat. hopfully.
I still need to notch the drive shaft x-member,( i cut it but i aint going to leave that shizz like that) even though ive seen it done(thats a no.no)
Also figure out the exhaust ,cut the bed and that should be that..
Peace all see ya sat!
September 21, 2006Notches are in!
looks pretty sweet huh!
god damn there big though.
i measured from the bed mount at set the notch at 14" from mount and 31" left to right
from bottom of frame to top of notch is 9 1/2" (without the top pc on)
set the other side put a torpedo on the notch and two 6' level across both notches
weld it up!!!
Next tack up the out sides ( if it makes it any easier cut the cap to fit set it on the notch with some magnets and fit the other side on make sure its as tight as possible and you have a lil ledge showing on all sides) i put a pc of 2x3 and a pc of 1/4" sheet in the notch (temporary)to make sure the notch panels didnt pull together to much making the cap over hang the sides.
clamp it-take the cap off measure placement level forward and across both notches and tack!
weld em up with the 2x3 and the 1/4" in there .then pull em out .
shouldnt be tight!
put the cap on, now you should have 1/8" lip all the way around the edges.tack at all edges and middles .then weld em up!
WATCH OUT: when welding downhill it may seem to be easier but its not its harder because the weldpool moves so quickly and gets a head of you
you will notice this by the lack of or no heat signatures by the welds and a worm like weld not a stacked dime affect
turn down the feed .5 or 1 and make sure it penitrates well!(if your use a 110v welder get a 230v really! if not make sure you clean all the welds good and do a second pass)
Now the scary part and the most fun . Break out the sawzall or plasma
cut the middle of the stock frame out
man this is beatifull!!!
i starded to clean up the welds you dont need to grind them just use a wire brush or wheel.I used a slap disk just cause i wanted an ultra smooth finish i will show you in saturdays pics.
i will finish with the lower plating tonight. would have done it last night but i dont think my neighbors love the sound of a chop saw @ 1:30 am
peace out peoples se ya tomorrow!!!!!!!!FIGHT GRAVITY NOT EACH OTHER
