March 9, 2004i want to put in an alarm system in my s10 what would be the best one to go with on a budget of about 150 dollars i dont care about remote start?
March 10, 2004I would recommend one from Code Alarm like the PC4200. They have an awesome shock sensor and tons of features and upgradeability. Very easy to install and program also. Much more user friendly than anything from DEI(Python, Viper, etc) or Omega(Crime Guard, Excaliber, etc)
March 10, 2004I guess i lean the other way. I say go DEI. Its a little more confusing to install, but DEI offers a billion upgrades, and lifetime warrenty on the alarm (not the remotes). They also have an excelent tech support. I install alarms constantly, and all i can say is stay away from Clifford. I have a DEI in my truck, love it to death. Circuit City carries DEI products, so if you ever have a problem with it, you always have someone who can at least take a look at it, and possibly fix it.
March 10, 2004The Code Alarms also have a lifetime warranty(includes remotes!!) A million upgrades(without 10,000 extra needed relays to do a basic install) Great tech support and a shock sensor that can kick the ass out of a DEI!! Sad thing is, I like DEI alarms too!!
March 11, 2004Well, I'm not familiar with Code alarms, so i don't recomend things i don't know about. Who sells them? Or is it one of those infomercial things? I just know that DEI has been making alarms for a LONG time, and u can get anything for them pratically anywhere. Out of the 4 car audio shops on the island here, only 1 of them dosen't carry DEI products.
March 23, 2004most alarms are made from the same co basically they all do the same thing price and the installer is every thing if you can get a alarm for 99-129 thats a good price make sure the installer is mecp certified hope this helps
March 23, 2004thanks guys for the input. i think i will go with the viper alarm.
March 24, 2004I highly recommend Crime Guard. I have that brand on three vechicles, and have used them for over 10 years with no problems. Lifetime warranty, ordered though Chutchfield. They have plug in connectors for most cars & trucks,so you don't cut into stock wireing. Compatable with as many as 4 vechicles,( can have them on 4,an one controller will work on all) Check them out. The Viper is good, but cost is high. Crime Guard cost about $160 ,and has the same funktions.
